Here is the latest version of Chinese Lace; I've decided to try a wide rib that aligns with the lace pattern repeat. This is looking much more sculptural than it will after blocking, but after my last WIP wet-block attempt, I've decided to play it safe. I didn't see any color bleeding into the water, but just in case, I'll wait until I finish this front piece before blocking it. I may go back to straight stockinette above the lace, but I'll take this a little further before I decide.
I have been watching your different versions of the Chinese lace pattern since you started. This latest one is very lovely. In fact I think your version is so much more graceful then the original pattern. The ribbing just flows into the lace. I am sure it will be a beautiful sweater.
I looked at the pattern in BW and it made my eyes cross ;) Many congratulations on altering such a complex pattern. You do beautiful work
